Optical Quantum Measurement Facility

The DTU-SPOC Optical Quantum Measurement Facility is a national research facility at DTU that provides researchers and companies with access to advanced measurement equipment for quantum technology.

Quantum technology exploits nature’s smallest building blocks, such as individual particles of light, to create new opportunities in areas including secure communication, sensors, and future computers. Developing and testing these technologies requires measurement instruments capable of detecting extremely weak light signals with very high precision.

The facility brings together some of the most advanced equipment for optical quantum measurements and makes it possible to investigate and characterise quantum systems in ways that only a few laboratories worldwide can. This helps researchers turn new ideas into technology and supports collaboration between universities, companies, and public-sector organisations.

The facility was established with support from the Novo Nordisk Foundation and the Carlsberg Foundation and contributes to strengthening Denmark’s position in quantum technology.
