Nonlinear Optics and Biophotonics

The ever-increasing population combined with new and more costly medical treatments for various diseases puts a heavy load on modern welfare. At the same time, the health and wellbeing of humans is on the Global Goals agenda of world (goal no. 3). Therefore, new and cost-effective technical solutions are in need to keep costs under control while supporting improved medical treatment and diagnosis for humans

Fiber Optics, Devices & Nonlinear Effects

Developing optical methods for better diagnostics and secure communication.

Fiber Sensors & Supercontinuum

Harnessing light to create high quality images for faster diagnosis in cancer patients, and employing large scale imaging equipment for industrial monitoring.

Neural Devices & Gas Photonics

Combining photonics, materials science, electronics and neurobiology towards understanding and treatment of disorders of the nervous system.

Ultrafast Infrared & Terahertz Science

Using light to investigate materials for future communication systems and sustainable production, and to investigate the effect of radiation on molecular systems.
