Inaugural lecture by Prof. Martijn Wubs

“Light and Layers for Tomorrow’s Technology: Quantum Nanophotonics and 2D Materials”

DTU Electro is pleased to invite all interested parties to celebrate newly appointed professor, Martijn Wubs.

In his inaugural lecture Professor Wubs will outline the trends and challenges in the area of quantum nanophotonics and 2D materials and show specific highlights from the work done at DTU.

The lecture is followed by a reception.

Summary: Nanophotonics studies light and its interaction with nanometer-scale objects. This research explores how photons behave at the nanometer scale, leading to insight and applications in optical and quantum communication, light harvesting, cooling, catalysis, sensors, and more. This lecture focuses on nanoscale quantum optics, examining how quantum states of light, including single photons, are generated and transmitted in nanostructures. It covers modifying emission properties of embedded light sources, collective emission, and energy transfer processes. Highlighted nanostructures include two-dimensional materials, studied in our group, that can host various types of quantum light sources
