The new test facilities for climate friendly energy technology was inaugurated Thursday 15 March 2012 in Oticonsalen, DTU Lyngby. More than 300 participants from both private and public organisations showed up to celebrate the official opening of PowerLabDK.
The minister for Climate, Energy and Building, Martin Lidegaard showed in his speech great enthusiasm for PowerLabDK, which he sees as an important step in the right direction to reach the government’s objective of making Denmark independent of fossil fuels in 2050.
The minister’s positive expectations to the new test facilities were shared by the three additional speakers of the day: the Mayor of Bornholm, Winnie Grosbøll, Head of PowerLabDK Steering Commitee, Preben Jørgensen from Vattenfall A/S and President of DTU, Anders Bjarklev.
PowerLabDK is a world-class experimental platform for technology development, testing, demonstrations and training within full scale, sustainable electric power system with more than 27,000 consumers and more than 33 percent wind power penetration. PowerLabDK enables development of the future intelligent electricity system that can handle the future expansion of renewable energy sources and a long-term vision of a fossil-free society.
